Con Report

The Doll Affair 2007
...as according to M, years and years later...

Raydance and her crew of hardworking dollers decided that we should have a doll con - having been at the EoY since its
second year of inception and starting its doll booth population since 2004, I wholeheartedly agreed. I just wish it hadn't come
at the time of my A'Levels, in international code, the exams which will decide whether I'm a worthless pile who can't get my ass
into a decent university. I don't think I can survive on two months of sleeplessness, so we turned down the notion of
attending both the EoY and TDA and instead, focused on TDA with its prospect of actually selling something completely
doll-related.

Because it wasn't a cosplay con anymore, it was time for us to run free with our themes!!! Which is why, I guess, we
decided to cosplay BE INSPIRED by the heart-breaking ballet, Giselle. [At least it's not Japanese. Unless you're watching
'Jiiseru' or something.]

I'll blather on about the outfits proper in the Closet section sometime, but Petr's corset is actually lined [!!! and you can't see it
here; fuck it I'm going to take new photos for the Closet] and if you know the story of Giselle and their visuals, you'll realize
that Tsuki's outfit, unlike Sei's nancy tights and Petr's expansive skirt, is not similar to the actual Queen outfit. This is because
ours is ah, a reintepretation of the Wili scene. We felt that for our visuals, a parallel dynamic would work better for the
Queen and Giselle. Our queen is thus based off a darker colour palette, but like Giselle has some flowing torn fabrics and a
long veil of the same design. That's our excuse story and we're sticking to it. The outfits actually, delightfully, sold - all of
them, all, er, three of them. That's more than I expect, alright? [And I do remember that I said I would try to sew more of
these, but production has been painful and that may not come to pass. I really do apologise! I have a few done up, so we'll
see how that goes...]

Anyway, I'm sure you want to know - and yes, we were late-ish but we managed to set up in 15 minutes and only intruded
a bit on event opening time. And guess what? A nice clip of our gits got on the local Chinese news:

Cool beans.
