The Doll Affair 2008 ...as according to M, a year later...
So this year was going revolve around the Crane Wife legend as butchered by Colin Meloy [I love the man I'm serious]. This only came about on the second-last day before registration as our collab partner unsuccessfully tried to wager herself out of her good friend's wedding. Si Ye, who was distinctly unwifey, but nevertheless could pass, I guess. XD;; If it looks familiar to you - yes, that kimono is a sneaky re-use because I couldn't do a new one up. At least it's terribly extravagant...And that's actually my bed-side lamp. We also found out early Saturday morning that we may have a future in woodworking. If we ever got past just sawing big rectangles in thin wood, that is. In any case, before more confusion ensues, it's the scene whereupon she's making cloth and her husband peeks through when he's not supposed to, blah.
All except the SD13 boy outfit sold...and it was sold later, to an American buyer with good taste. ;) I can say conclusively that they were all bought by Good PeopleTM, and I hope they're enjoying them.
This event, however, decided to reprise the first doll display experience - half a week before the event was slated a heavily chipped tooth decided it was time to throw me into throes of agony. Every single day leading up to the event and at the event itself I was dosed up heavily on painkillers and every single day before I could get to the dentists I was unsuccessfully attempting home remedies that did not work and I could not sleep, opting to crawl up and sew slowly instead. Subsequently, we spoiled last year's positive trend by being atrociously late and finishing the set-up I think...an hour and half late. We were really sorry. And simultaneously miffed at whoever kept switching off our effect back-lighting! I'm surprised anything sold at all - but quite, quite happy of course. Outfit detailing will ensue in Closet.
